2024 INTERNATIONAL EXPEDITIONS
-
(ADULT) MARCH 2-17, 2024
The Futaleufu is revered as one of the world’s great rivers. Fed by pristine glacial lakes in the high Andes of Patagonia Chile, its’ blue-green waters offer world-class challenges as it flows through stunning landscapes and past a culture which feels timeless and welcoming.GOALS Futaleufu expeditions are different from every other program we offer - not only for the obvious cultural and geographic factors - but also for the structure of the expedition itself. We pick our way slowly to southern Chile - exploring coastal villages, local markets, and national parks on our way. Upon arriving, we base camp in safari-style tents rather than traveling downstream and camping each night. This allows for a multi-sport experience activities beyond rafting several sections of the Futaleufu - paddling inflatable and hard shell kayaks, exploring the surrounding valleys on horseback, hiking to high alipine lakes, and even visiting local schools or farms to immerse in the culture. A home base also allows morning yoga classes, afternoon discussions with guides about the home countries in wood-fired hot tubs, incredible meals served in the open-air communal dining area, and campfires under the southern cross and other constellations we don‘t see in the Northern hemisphere.
There’s nothing quite like the Futaleufu - and the 2024 adult expedition is taken up a notch with music in camp from Jenner Fox and Jeremy Elliot. If your curiosity is heightened, don’t miss the boat - do whatever you must to join us on this journey to a region of South America that magically combines a reputation for sitting solidly atop every river runner's bucket list with a sense of somehow remaining untouched and undiscovered. Take advantage of the chance to experience the Fu as it is meant to be explored - before the damming threat re-emerges; before pavement reaches the region; before you look back and wish you had.Additional Information:

(YOUTH) MARCH 15-30, 2024
Our youth Patagonia itinerary mirrors the adult itinerary almost exactly - a unique multi-sport adventure that combines rafting, kayaking (inflatable and hard shell), riding horses from the valley floor to high above tree line, and paddling sea kayaks through beautiful fjords while wild sea lions swim along side. If there is a paradise for outdoor adventure enthusiasts, we think it exists in Patagonia Chile. This expeditions is generally only available to kids who are finishing high school or beginning college/gap year with whom GOALS already has a solid relationship and rapport - kids that our experienced leaders feel are ready to travel internationally and take on the whitewater challenges that the Futaleufu serves up. If you think you’re ready to push your body, mind, and soul, then apply to join us on a Futaleufu expedition - your only regret may be that describing it to those who weren’t along for the ride is nearly impossible.

FALL 2024 - DATES TBD
A GOALS Maranon experience combines many of the most fascinating lessons in history, culture, and conservation that Peru can tell - all into one absolutely epic experience that explores several regions of the country. We begin in Cusco - a beautiful city that serves as the gateway to the Sacred Valley. We’ll explore Inca ruins, visit small markets, and learn about native textile weaving on small farms throughout the region. We will trek through high passes in the Andes that lead to the famed Inca city of Machu Picchu before returning to Cusco for a flight toward the second part of this expedition - the Rio Maranon.
This beautiful river offers one of the most unique journeys on the planet. Isolated riverside villages, cascading waterfalls, natural swimming holes, ancient rock art, ruins, along with endemic flora and fauna that is literally not found anywhere else in the world. While navigating the largest tributary of the Amazon River, we’ll visit and interact with local cultures who must walk hours to the nearest road - challenging the local school kids to a game of soccer, practicing our Spanish over a meal prepared in the homes of local villagers, etc. We’ll hike to ancient ruins and pictograph panels, explore caves and swim in cascading waterfalls, and perhaps most importantly - we’ll discuss the devastating impacts that a series of proposed dams on the Maranon would have throughout the region. We’ll do it all in between countless class III and IV rapids. The Sacred Valley and the Rio Maranon create an expedition that inspires, educates, and motivates. Don’t miss the Rio Maranon - experience it now while you still can!
