“A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT.”

BACKGROUND.

GOALS Youth River Expeditions has been on a mission to transform the future for kids & wild places since 2010. Our unique programs integrate a combined focus on adolescent mental health, environmental stewardship & outdoor adventure - delivered via multi-day wilderness river expeditions throughout the western US and around the world.

One of the primary focuses at GOALS has always been on creating the valuable connections that today's teens who are growing up in a hyper-scheduled, digital world need more than ever. In 2022 and 2023, GOALS expanded that focus to the refugee community - serving kids from Afghanistan, Rwanda, Honduras, Burma and Mexico alongside North American teens. What was initially designed to benefit the refugee children who had forgone so much connection when fleeing their home countries has proven to be mutually beneficial, as kids from all walks of life leave these combined expeditions with new understanding, empathy, language, and - most importantly - new friends.

This is the heartwarming story illustrating connections created between North American teens & refugee children on Idaho's Main Salmon River - an up-lifting film about today's teens looking beyond perceived differences and getting to the roots of human connection. Immerse yourself in the heartwarming story that will make you laugh, cry, and reflect on the beauty of diversity.
